Rachael Ostovich: Flyweight Prospect

Last December, in the mixed martial arts Invicta Fighting Championship debut, Rachael Ostovich won the match via split – decision. She was up against Evva Johnson. Ostovich felt that it was not a close fight as how that scorecards indicated.

“I was actually surprised it was a split-decision. I thought I had more of an edge in the rounds. That’s why you should never leave it in the hands of the judges. I’m just glad I won. I wish I would have finished it, but other than that, I’m grateful for the victory.”

As Rachael Ostovich gained her success at Invicta and in the mainland was a huge thing for her, as she spent most of her career in Hawaii.

“Invicta is just a dream come true,” she said. “Their organization is just top-notch. After fighting in Invicta, I don’t want to fight in any other organization. Everything was organized, there were no questions, and everything was already laid out. It was what I expected and more.”

It has been nine months since the MMA flyweight prospect last fought, so Rachael Ostovich is very much eager to showcase her development as she makes her comeback.

ostovich“I’m never a big fan of having this much time off. I always like to stay active. If I could, I would fight every weekend, that’s how much I want to get experience. It’s hard for me to be patient with a good attitude, so I’m so glad I’m getting back in the cage. I think I got to work on a lot of things that needed to be sharpened up as far as my ground and stand-up game. I’m really excited to show Invicta fans what I have and what I’ve been working so hard on.”

Rachael Ostovich’s (2-1) fight at the 125-pound bout at Invicta 14 in Kansas City, will show the developments that she had as she faces Andrea Lee (2-1). This will be her third straight win if she takes on Lee.

“Andrea is a really tough girl. She has beautiful stand-up. She’s known to be a kickboxer, so I know it’s going to be a tough fight. A lot of people are saying it’s going to be Fight of the Night, and I’m going to have to agree with that. I’ve been training really hard on my stand-up defense and all of that. I’m pretty sure I can hold my own anywhere it goes in this match. I’m going to take it as it comes and just go for the finish.”

Rachael Ostovich wants to focus on having a good MMA performance during the match even if she knows that this match against Lee is important. She doesn’t want to pressure herself too much.

“I don’t want to say that this fight is a make-or-break fight for me, because even if it does not turn out in my favor, I still have a bright future, but I feel if I do win, it’ll definitely boost my career and give me more opportunities. I’m just really excited for this fight.”
