Former welterweight MMA champion, Anderson Silva, claimed that he tested positive on steroids due to a sexual enhancement drug given to him by a friend earlier this year. As expected, Silva, who went against Nick Diaz recently, is getting a lot of criticisms about this.
Among those who are currently throwing shots at Silva is current contender, Bisping. During a recent interview, Bisping called out Silva, telling him to “leave the Viagra out of it” for their upcoming fight this February 27th. Silva, who also failed the drug test for temazepam and oxazepam, answered Bisping’s verbal shots during a recent interview last Tuesday.
“I don’t have to prove absolutely anything to Bisping or anyone else besides myself. I never needed any illegal substance, steroid or anything like that. I made a mistake, and everyone can make mistakes. I never tested positive before. I was questioned by the commissioner, and he was arrogant and ironic by asking me if I had ever been randomly tested before. I said no, because I never had any problems with doping and I never used it. My body is the same ever since I started fighting until now,” Silva said.
Although Bisping didn’t stop throwing shots at him for his failed drug tests during the MMA conference meeting, but it looks like Silva won’t be taunted to answer back and start a verbal war.
“This is in the past now. Some people will continue talking about it, but I don’t care. Some things will be solved inside (the Octagon), as always. I don’t like to talk too much, to promote (a fight) with talking. I like to go there and do my job. The result is the same, you can win or lose. And that’s what I’m going to do,” Silva said.
The former welterweight MMA champ knows that his reputation may be forever tarnished with this incident, but he is willing to move forward and face the necessary consequences in order to make things rights. In fact, Silva wants to be tested every single day until the fight night with Bisping.
“Everyone can talk. Even parrots talk. I will do my job as I always did, and that’s it. I can’t worry about everything and be like ‘oh, my God’. If I worry about everything people talk about me I won’t leave my house. I’m ready to be tested at any moment. I’m not perfect, I’m not a saint. I really made a mistake by taking a substance that was tainted. I never intended to expose my personal life to clear the facts the way I did. I never took any kind of steroid. My lawyer and the guy that tested the supplements I took were not able to prove the truth. My suspension is coming to an end. I made a mistake and I’m paying for it. I’m ready to fight again, and I’m happy about it. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, can think what they want. I’m ready to be tested. They can test me every day leading up to the fight. Unfortunately, some people will think I’m a cheater and others won’t, but the important thing in all of this is my conscience. There’s no lie in this sport. You can’t lie in there,” Silva added.
